I edit videos, burn them to DVD and play them on my PC. When using Nero which kind of PC system would I need?

For such cases you need a PC system with medium perfomance. In case you also want to make use of HD footage which can happen quite often, your PC should at least be equipped with processor types like Intel® Core™ II Duo 2.2 GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200 (2.6GHz). We recommend RAM of at least 2G – more is better. Basically any new PC/Laptop you can buy today should fulfill the needs easily.

Your hard disk should have a minimum of 5 GB free storage space. This is needed for program and effect content installation as well as temporary files during processing.

For burning and play back of DVD-Video discs you need a DVD recorder drive. This will also be utilized for installing from DVD disc if you have bought a box version product.

If you plan to also burn your HD videos to Blu-ray Discs with menus you need to have a Blu-ray Disc recoder available (this will also burn CDs and DVDs). If your laptop misses a disc recoder drive just attach an external one via USB.

Your graphics card must at least be Microsoft DirectXÂŽ 9.0 compatible and should have a dedicated video RAM of 256 MB minimum.

The respective Nero products for your use cases (Nero 2017 Platinum, Nero 2017 Classic, Nero Video 2017, Nero MediaHome 2017) work with WindowsŽ 7 SP1 Home Premium, Professional oder Ultimate (32/64 bit), WindowsŽ 8 (32/64 bit), WindowsŽ 8.1 with April 2014 update (32/64 bit) und WindowsŽ 10 (32/64 bit)

If you like playing your self created slideshows and videos also on the big TV screen in the living room, there is a comfortable way of doing this via streaming in your home network. Just install free ‘Nero Streaming Player‘ App on your smartphone or tablet via the app store and make use of your mobile device as a remote control for playing all your movies, photos and music from the PC to your TV via WiFi.

In most cases I only copy discs, rip and burn music CDs, and create disc covers. When using Nero which kind of PC system would I need?

For such cases you do not neeed a powerful system. Basically any new PC or Laptop you can buy today should fulfill the needs easily (for the case of a missing disc recorder drive, see below).

Your PC should at least have  a 2 GHz AMD or IntelŽ processor and 1 GB of RAM minimum. You need free hard disk space of 500 MB for installing the program and for temporary files.

Your PC should have a build in disc recorder. If this is missing or you only own a laptop without a disc drive you can also connect an external disc recoder via USB. If you prefer to also burn Blu-ray Discs aside from CD/DVD you need a Blu-ray Disc recorder (this will also burn CDs and DVDs). Otherwise a normal CD/DVD disc recoder will do. When it comes to drive speed more is always better. With higher speed it takes less time for copying, ripping, and burning.

The respective Nero products for your use cases (Nero 2017 Platinum, Nero 2017 Classic, Nero Burning ROM 2017) work with WindowsÂŽ 7 SP1 Home Premium, Professional or Ultimate (32/64 bit), WindowsÂŽ 8 (32/64 bit), WindowsÂŽ 8.1 with April 2014 update (32/64 bit), and WindowsÂŽ 10 (32/64 bit)

If you have lots of data on your smartphone or tablet that you would like to burn to disc, ‘Nero AirBurn’ in combination with ‘Nero Burning ROM’ could be an interesting option. Get the free app in the App Store.

Why does Nero ask me for Patent Activation?

Your Nero software includes certain features that require the activation of a third party patent. The activation of these patents is easy and free of charge.

If you choose to activate the patent at a later time, you can still use the respective features, but you will receive periodic reminders that activation needs to occur within 30 days of your initial use of the product.

After this 30-day period you must activate the patent technology before you can continue to use the corresponding features.

What is the difference between Express Editing and Advanced Editing, and when would I use it?

You have the choice of selecting ‘Make Express Movie’ or ‘Make Advanced Movie‘ within ‘Nero Video‘ ‘Home Screen‘ as well as in the project itself.

Home_en

‘Express Editing‘ is optimized for quick results. ‘Nero Video‘ express mode is very easy to use, still you will realize that probably 90% of your jobs can already be done here. Compared to ‘Advanced Editing’ you have some limitations: no multi-track editing, no aditional trimming options, no keyframing, no advanced video and audio filters.

Also for users with higher ambitions Nero Video ‘Express Editing‘ is the perfect choice for rough cuts and quick trimming. You also have dedicated preset ‘Nero Express Video Effects‘ templates that you just drag and drop to your clip.

Express Project_en

Starting with Nero 2017 you also have a great function called ‘Multi Export‘ in ‘Express Editing‘. This allows you to export individual clips within one project in only one export process. This way you save a lot of time.

Nero Video ‘Advanced Editing‘ comes into place when you want to create video projects with all the bells and whistles of a pro movie. ‘Advanced Editing’ gives you timeline based multi-track editing with numerous layers, a higher varitety of trimming tools, more video and audio filters. A key differentiator is the availability of keyframe editing that you can utilize for moving path animations, picture in picture overlays, and also for almost all of the advanced video effects. In here you also have the option of customizing video effects and save them as your personal drag & drop effect template for frequent re-use. Such newly created personal drag & drop effect templates will also work in your ‘Express Editing‘ projects.

Once started a project you also have the option of hot switching from ‘Express Editing’ to ‘Advanced Editing’ so that you can further fine tune your project started in ‘Express Editing‘.
