When you click on the âAdd manuallyâŚâ button in Nero MediaHome âOptions > Libraryâ you will see your hard disk devices as well as all attached USB hard disks or sticks, including folders and subfolders for selection. When you add one of these folders, its content will be scanned and added to Nero MediaHome library. The browsing view will then show all your media in the relevant categories (My Photos, My Videos, My Slideshows, Music, Movies, TV Shows).
A different case applies when you have a smartphone attached via USB. This is not regarded as regular disk device, which you can add to the library. It is a mobile media device, the content of which (photo, video, music) you need to import first. Â Within the import process, the content will be made compatible to your options if wanted or needed.
After the selected content from your mobile device has been imported to the location you have defined in âOptions > Portable Devicesâ, it will be added to the media library automatically.
In case you want to install your Nero product on a new PC or if you have installed new hard drives in your given system, you can move your media library to the new system. This way you will have all your media assets and Nero MediaHome projects available and can use Nero MediaHome on the new system in the same way as before. We will show you how this can be achieved, easily.
Open Nero MediaHome and go to ‘Options’, ‘Library Copy’.
Connect an external hard drive to your PC and click the button âCopy Libraryâ.
In the copy page you get an overview which types of files you have in your media library including overall file sizes. Select the external drive that you want to copy your media library to.
Then click âCopyâ and the media library will be copied to your target drive as specified. Depending on the size of your media library this may take some time.
After having installed Nero on the new system, attach your external hard drive to your new system, open Nero MediaHome, go to ‘Options’, ‘Library Copy’ again, and click the âPaste Libraryâ button.  In the ‘Paste’ page select your external hard drive and via ‘Paste’ copy the media library to your new location. Depending on the size of your media library this may take some time.
Once pasted, your configuration, all your media files, slideshow projects, tags, etc. are available in the same way as you were used to on your former system.

Season/Episode type of TV Shows
To name season/episode based shows, please make use of below naming convention.
TV Shows/ShowName/Season xx/ShowName – sXXeYY – Optional_Info.ext
Example
Multi-Episode Files
If a single video file covers more than one episode, we suggest the following naming.

[in this case YY is the first episode number covered in the file, ZZ is the last episode number covered in the file]

For instance, you might use something like this.
Single Video Files
For single video files that do not have any further associated file going along, the folder structure is of no meaning. For naming single video files as âmovieâ files please use below convention.
Movies/MovieName â Year.ext*
*[Year = Year of release, ext = file ending]
Folders including movie files and external subtitles
Folders including movies can consist of several associated individual files. A typical case is movie folders including external subtitles. In such folders you will find files with different files extensions. Just name all files in the folder with the generic movie name and leave the individual file extension naming in place.
Many Nero Users, especially enjoying streaming, keep putting this question
From Nero 2018 product generation you can stream Movies and TV shows with Nero from your PC to your smart TV.
Before Nero 2018 product generation Nero MediaHome could not differentiate between private videos, movies, and TV shows. With Nero 2018 this has changed for all Nero products including Nero MediaHome: Nero Platinum 2018, Nero Standard 2018, Nero Video 2018, Nero MediaHome 2018.
Moreover, prior versions of Nero MediaHome used to merge âphotosâ and âvideosâ into one media category, and could only be separated by filtering. Regarding this  aspect, many users voted for a separate display of the two categories, anyway.
In order to make this happen, Nero MediaHome has seen a restructuring of its media category views while keeping the well-accepted workflows and features. Now, the following media categories are available:
My Photos
My Videos
My Slideshows
Music
Movies
TV-Shows
Having individual categories, now, lets a user more easily find and play media in Nero MediaHome, and also enables him to access his dedicated âMoviesâ and âTV Showsâ.
In Nero MediaHome library options, PC folders that include Movies / TV Shows have to be flagged as ‘Movies’Â Â or âTV Showsâ manually, and will be indexed accordingly, afterwards. This is a standard procedure for such a feature set.
Once the indexing is finished, âMoviesâ and âTV Showsâ will be automatically displayed with their clear name and an associated movie posters. If existing, âTV Showsâ will be shown with their given season and episode.
On the right hand side, within the browsing view of âMoviesâ or âTV Showsâ users will find dedicated meta-data windows allowing them to individually edit each titleâs name, the director, actors and the like, select a range of movie poster, or add their own ones.
Using the free App for iOS and Android ‘Nero Streaming Player’ on their smartphone or tablet, users also have access to all media categories used in Nero MediaHome library, including âMoviesâ & âTV Showsâ. Now, they can comfortably play them to their Smart TV connected to the same network as their PC, and smartphone. They just need to select âPlay from PCâ in Nero Streaming Player home page and within the playback window need to select their TV set. Now, they can enjoy full browsing and playback control of their PC right at their fingertips.
With such new functions included, users will realize that NeroMediaHome and Nero Streaming Player come with strong new features and quite a range of additional use cases. We believe they will like these a lot.
