Nero Score adds new AVC Decoding and Encoding Test

Following the AI Tagging test, Nero Score is once again focusing its benchmarking tool on real-world AVC decoding and encoding tests. This is a test unit for measuring the performance of system codecs running AVC software and hardware decoding & encoding separately.

Compared with previous video compression standards, AVC achieves effective compression while minimizing distortion caused by the compression process. Today, AVC has become a relatively main codec for users in video playback, transcoding, and compression.

Most benchmarking of codecs on the market is often done using a tool that comes with the codec, which does not truly reflect the performance, for example, your movie playback using the system’s Movies & TV application, and it is hard to relate these benchmark results under specific conditions with real-world performance.

Nero Score’s ‘AVC Decoding and Encoding Test’ is a unit that measures codec performance using only the system’s own codecs, which is a more realistic reflection of your system’s performance without running third-party applications.

Nero Score AVC decoding and encoding test decodes and encodes a dedicated Ultra HD 4K video clip with the system’s own codecs to measure the processing power of your system’s CPU and GPU for AVC.

CPU/GPU AVC benchmarks and measures how many video frames per second can be processed with your system’s codec on the given CPU/GPU. The outcome of this test will let you compare how different CPUs/GPUs score in this domain. And you also can compare the CPU behaviors in AVC solution and AI inference solution.

The test produces a benchmark score for AVC decoding and transcoding as a measure of performance. As with the AI Tagging test, higher scores mean better performance. Here are some scores for reference:

How do I redeem an activation code in Nero Start?

In most of the cases, you may buy Nero products directly from Nero official online store including the Nero Start in-app cart. Products will be delivered to your Nero Account when you complete the order automatically. You just need to sign in to your Nero Account and you are ready to go enjoying the products and services immediately.

However, you still have some chances to deal with activation code. E.g., you might buy Nero software in the local retail store. You might subscribe to some PC magazines where we promote Nero software regularly. Or you might subscribe to our Facebook channel where we also promote our software regularly.

In these cases, you will receive the activation code in your email inbox, product packaging covermount or our promotion campaign landing pages.

All you need to do is that sign in to the Nero account in Nero Start. Go to the activation code page where you can enter the activation code manually to redeem the corresponding products.

Remember that such unlock behavior with activation code needs to be done manually.

How to create a perfect slide show in Nero Video easily and quickly?

If you would like to create a slide show in Nero Video after your vacation or for the annual holiday, you may have a very large collection of photos to choose from. The new AI and smart detection features in Nero Suite make Nero Video easier to find and create personalized slide shows to bring your memories to life.

As you know, Nero MediaHome is the universal media center in the Nero suite for archiving, organizing, creating and playing files. Previously, however, you couldn’t make use of these already-archived media information outside of Nero MediaHome and Nero MediaBrowser. Now it is different – from 24.x and higher versions you can make use this information directly in Nero Video.

Do you already have your media well organized in Nero MediaHome? Nero MediaHome has an easy way to group photos by people, places or AI tags. Now, in Nero Video, in v.24.x or higher version, just click on the “Group by” drop-down menu and new “Person”, “Places” and “AI Tags” will appear. There are also shortcuts for them on the My Media toolbar.

If you know exactly who you want to create a slideshow for, select “Person” and your photos in My Media library will be grouped by person so you can find photos that belong to the person you’re looking for.

If you’re coming back from a vacation somewhere, you can also group your photos by “Places”.

If you only remember the general content of a photo, rather than the exact time, person or place, such as a photo on a playground, a certain old bike, or a photo for the birthday party at last year, just press ‘AI Tags’, and the photos will be grouped by content and what they were tagged with.
